Peel Adult Day Services and Long Term Care have a new mandate
Peel Long Term Care runs 5 centres throughout Peel. Over 700 people call these centres home.
All 5 centres also provide Adult Day Services. This service helps adults in need stay at home longer. It provides a place where adults can socialize and get the care they need. It also gives caregivers respite or a break from caregiving.
We’ve been caring for people for over 100 years, and we keep working to innovate and improve the lives of those in our care.
Some examples of that work
The Butterfly Household Model of Care
We were the first long-term care provider in Ontario to use the Butterfly Household Model of Care. Butterfly Homes meet the needs of people with dementia through love, understanding and meaningful engagement.
Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) accreditation
We’re an accredited Best Practice Spotlight Organization through the RNAO. We’ve put many best practice guidelines in place to improve our ability to give exceptional care.
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
We’ve worked hard to earn and maintain our accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. This voluntary accreditation is a symbol of quality service.
A new mandate and service plan
We unveiled our new service plan on July 17, 2019. This plan will guide our long-term care and Adult Day Services for the next 4 years.
We consulted with Long Term Care Centre employees and residents, Adult Day Services employees and participants, and families to create the plan.
Specifically, we asked them to submit words that they believe summed up the work of the 2 services. Over 500 words were submitted, and from those words came our new mandate:
We contribute to our Community for Life by providing compassionate, loving and respectful care to individuals and their caregivers in their time of need.
