Illuminating the way to a brighter future

main

Region of Peel lights up our headquarters to “Orange the World” and step up efforts to eliminate violence against women and girls.

On November 25, the Region of Peel illuminated our headquarter locations at 10 Peel Centre Drive in Brampton and 7120 Hurontario in Mississauga to “Orange the World” as we UNiTE to end violence against women.

Initiated by the United Nation’s Secretary-General, UNiTE is a global, 16-day awareness campaign calling for global action and funding to ensure women and girls enjoy a life free of assault and intimidation. The theme for 2016 is Orange the World: Raise Money to End Violence against Women and Girls and the colour orange is used to symbolize a brighter future.

Throughout the duration of the 16-day campaign, which runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), the Region of Peel will be tweeting in support of UNiTE. Follow us at @RegionofPeel for updates and to retweet to increase awareness.

The Region of Peel would like to thank the Grandmother’s Advocacy Network for approaching Regional Council to support this initiative.
