Full-day Early Learning
Ontario will start moving towards full-day early learning for 4- and 5-year-olds in September 2010. The program will be phased in over the next few years and is expected to be available in all schools by the 2015-16 school year.
Approved schools announced!
The Region of Peel worked with local school boards and other community partners to identify schools that are able to provide the full-day early learning program starting in September 2010.

Background
Premier Dalton McGuinty appointed Dr. Charles Pascal as Ontario’s Early Learning Advisor, asking him to make suggestions on how to best implement full-day learning for 4- and 5-year olds.
Dr. Pascal’s report, With Our Best Future in Mind: Implementing Early Learning in Ontario was released in June 2009. The report contains a number of recommendations, including how to introduce full-day early learning to Ontario students, how to improve education for children up to 12 and how to increase supports for young families.
An article describing the recent history of early learning in Peel helps put the impact of the provincial initiative in context for parents and professionals: The Evolution Of Full Day Learning In Peel.
