Volunteer Position Descriptions
Maintenance Assistant - Summer Students Only
Objective
- To assist the Supervisors at Region of Peel Learn.Play.Care. Centres with various maintenance duties.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Comfortable in ability to ensure that maintenance duties as assigned are carried out in accordance with general health and safety and WHMIS standards.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Comfortable working in an environment with children of various ages.
- Enjoy working in a busy environment.
- Have attended and orientation session on the Region of Peel, Children’s Services and Volunteer Expectations.
- Completed Criminal Reference Check prior to acceptance as a program volunteer.
- Can provide an up-to-date immunization record prior to volunteering.
Possible responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- General cleaning.
- Disinfecting of toys.
- Gardening.
- Cleaning of all storage areas indoors and outdoors.
- Preparation of outdoor play areas including: playground set up, sweeping of the splash pad, raking of sand etc.
- Log volunteer hours and submit them to the Coordinator, Volunteer and Student Services.
Location
Duties will be carried out at an assigned Region of Peel Learn.Play.Care. Centre.
Commitment for summer students applying for this position:
- Minimum of 40 hours during the months of July and August.
