Air

We all need clean air in order to live healthy lives. That’s why it is important that we do our best to ensure our daily activities promote clean air.

Conservation - Air

Although air pollution is most visible on hot humid days, smog and poor air quality are year-round problems that harm human health, the environment, and even our local economy.

To help protect local air quality, the Region of Peel participates in initiatives such as the GTA Clean Air Council and the Smog Summit. The Region has also implemented a Smog Response Strategy at its facilities.

Transportation is a major source of air pollution. Initiatives aimed at reducing kilometres travelled by increasing alternative modes of transportation such as walking or cycling, increasing the efficiency of fleets and reducing idling, all help improve air quality by reducing pollutants. The Region of Peel actively promotes the Smart Commute and Walking School Bus programs and supports municipal public transit.
