The Region is a firm believer in the value of benchmarking and performance measures. The Region utilizes many tools, of which MPMP is one, in order to monitor and track corporate performance and regularly examine and improve its business processes. MPMP dovetails very well with the Region's continuous improvement programs because Peel maintains a service quality and pursuit of excellence mindset.
Corporate performance measures form the basis for detailed annual business plans and they play an important role in long term planning and reporting of services efficiency and effectiveness to Regional Council and the citizens of Peel Region.
This progressive environment has contributed to the Region receiving the Progressive Excellence Program Award – Level IV, which led to the Regional Municipality of Peel becoming the first government in Canada to earn the public sector Canada Awards for Excellence Gold Trophy from the National Quality Institute.
The Region of Peel is a member of several organizations whose goals are improvement of municipal services. The Ontario Knowledge Network (OKN) is a joint venture between the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO). The Centre is founded on the belief that municipal service performance measures and best practices can assist municipalities in their continuous quest to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their services.
