THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF PEEL

BY-LAW NUMBER 3-2000

WHEREAS the Council of the Regional Corporation has adopted Resolution 97-1140 in support of the restructuring of the Credit Valley Conservation Authority (the "Authority") having the effect of reducing the membership of the Authority from 20 members to 12 members, and having the effect of reducing the Regional Corporation’s representation on the Authority from ten members to seven members;

AND WHEREAS pursuant to section 4 of the Act the Regional Municipality of Peel is a participating municipality in the place of the local municipalities within Peel, and is directed to appoint to the Authority the number of members to which the local municipalities would have been entitled as participating municipalities;

AND WHEREAS the local municipalities as separate ungrouped municipalities would have been entitled and to appoint a total of ten members to the Authority had they been participating municipalities;

AND WHEREAS Regional Council is authorized pursuant to section 8 of the Act to group the City of Mississauga and the City of Brampton together with the result that Peel becomes entitled to appoint seven members to the Authority, being the number of appointees consistent with Peel’s representation on the restructured Authority;

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Regional Corporation enacts as follows:

1. That the City of Mississauga and the City of Brampton are designated as a group of municipalities that shall be considered as one municipality for the purpose of appointment by the Regional Corporation of members to the Credit Valley Conservation Authority.
