THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF PEEL
BY-LAW NUMBER 3-2004
 
A by-law to provide for the preservation and destruction of documents and records of the Regional Municipality of Peel, and to amend By-law Number 1-2003.


WHEREAS under Section 255 of the Municipal Act, 2001 as amended, a municipality may establish schedules of retention periods during which its records must be kept and preserved;

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Regional Corporation on the 23rd day of January, 2003 enacted By-law 1-2003, being a by-law to establish retention periods during which its records must be retained and preserved (the "Records Retention By-law);

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Regional Corporation has by resolution passed the 12th of February, 2004 authorized the enactment of a by-law to amend the Records Retention By-law;

NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Regional Corporation enacts as follows:

1. That the Records Retention By-law 1-2003 be amended by deleting the following from Schedule A thereof:

Tenant /Applicant Placement



Includes: All records produced by the Region or received from the applicant in support of their application, such as Client Management System (CMS) reports, medical report forms, bank statement copies, credit reports, Social Insurance Number card copies and rental application forms.

Uses: Determine applicants' eligibility for non-profit housing.
