WHEREAS the Regional Clerk has been granted a temporary leave of absence for maternity and parental leave under By-law 60-2008 in accordance with the Employment Standards Act, S.O. 2000, chapter 41;

AND WHEREAS the Regional Clerk has provided notification of her resignation;

AND WHEREAS it is necessary to extend the current appointment of the Deputy Clerk until such time as the recruitment process for a permanent Regional Clerk is completed;

NOW THEREFORE the Regional Corporation enacts as follows:

That in accordance with part VI, s. 228. paragraph (2) of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, chapter 25, Jeff Payne is appointed to the position of Deputy Clerk to carry out the duties of the Clerk prescribed by law or otherwise for the designated period and at the remuneration determined under the policies and procedures applicable to the Regional Corporation for the period of September 15, 2009 to January 8, 2010 or until such time as a successful candidate for Regional Clerk is confirmed by Regional Council.
