THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF PEEL
 
BY-LAW NUMBER 9-2015
 

A by-law to authorize the execution of an agreement between the Regional Municipality of Peel, the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services (Ontario), and the Town of Caledon for provision of police services in Caledon by the Ontario Provincial Police.


WHEREAS under subsection 4(1) of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.15, as amended, the Regional Municipality of Peel (Region of Peel) is required to provide adequate and effective police services in accordance with its needs;

AND WHEREAS, under section 5 of the Police Services Act, the Region of Pee's responsibility for providing police services may be discharged by entering into an agreement with the Solicitor General under section 10 of the Act;

AND WHEREAS, pursuant to Order-in-Council 497/2004, the powers assigned to the Solicitor General in law, including those set out in the Police Services Act, have been transferred to the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services;

AND WHEREAS, the Region of Peel intends to provide police services in the Town of Caledon, in pursuance of its responsibilities under section 5 of the Police Services Act, by means of an agreement for the provision of police services by the Ontario Provincial Police under section 10 of the Act;


NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Region of Peel enacts as follows:

1. That the signing officers for the Regional Municipality of Peel are hereby authorized to execute an agreement for the provision of police services by the Ontario Provincial Police in the Town of Caledon under section 10 of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.15 as amended.
