THE COUNCIL OF
THE REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF PEEL
SPECIAL REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING
July 24, 2012

PURPOSE: To Consider a Matter Related to Labour Relations or Employee Negotiations

Regional Chair Kolb called the Special Meeting of Regional Council to order at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber, Regional Administrative Headquarters, 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A, Brampton.

Moved by Councillor Palleschi,
Seconded by Councillor Saito;

That the agenda for the July 24, 2012 Special Regional Council meeting be approved.

In Camera Matters – Item 11.1a was dealt with.

At 9:34 a.m., in accordance with section 239(2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, a motion was placed, and was carried, to move into closed session to consider the following subject matters:

That Council proceed “In Camera” to consider a Council report relating to the following:

That Resolution Number 2012-852 from the July 5, 2012 Regional Council meeting, be rescinded.

Councillor Thompson requested a recorded vote.

a) Labour Relations or Employee Negotiations

Moved by Councillor Foley,
Seconded by Councillor Crombie;

That the Memorandum of Settlement for the renewal of the Collective Agreement between The Regional Municipality of Peel and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 966 representing employees in Public Works (outside workers), be approved;

And further, that the required documents be executed by the Regional Corporation’s duly authorized signing officers.

12. BY-LAW TO CONFIRM THE PROCEEDINGS OF COUNCIL

Moved by Councillor Iannicca,
Seconded by Councillor Sanderson;

That By-law 82-2012 to confirm the proceedings of Regional Council at its special meeting held on July 24, 2012, and to authorize the execution of documents in accordance with the Region's by-laws relating thereto, be given the required number of readings, taken as read, signed by the Regional Chair and the Regional Clerk, and the Corporate Seal be affixed thereto.

Regional Chair Kolb advised that the Regional Council meeting and Peel Housing Corporation Board of Directors meeting, scheduled for August 9, 2012, will be cancelled.

Councillor Miles confirmed that the meeting of the Early Learning and Child Care in Peel Council Task Force for August 9, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. will take place as scheduled.

The meeting adjourned at 10:14 a.m.
