contract to expand the Region of Peel Administrative
Headquarters, including a new police facility,
was awarded to Bondfield Construction Ltd.
on the 200,000 sq. ft. expansion could begin as
early as September, with full occupancy expected
in fall of 2008. The combined office and police
station building will be joined on the ground
level with the existing facility, located at 10
Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton.
building will be six storeys in height, constructed
of blue tempered glass and stainless steel, and
will include three levels of underground parking.
A wide street-level main entrance, one-stop service
reception, a community resource centre and a large
cafeteria are among the features designed to provide
Peel citizens and visitors with a positive customer
service experience. Peel Regional Police 21 Division
staff will occupy 30,000 sq. ft. on two floors
of the new building.
Central to approval of the plan is the recognition
that providing one large facility will enable
the Region to maintain greater control through
owned assets, rather than leasing office space
indefinitely at multiple locations across Peel.
In addition, design of the new building will incorporate
cost-conscious, state-of-the-art, energy-efficient
geothermal heating and cooling technology.
