The Regional Grants Ad hoc Committee met on December 5, 2002, at 8:37 a.m. in
the 5th floor Boardroom, Regional Administrative Headquarters, 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton.

1. DECLARATIONS OF CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
2. ELECTION OF THE COMMITTEE CHAIR/VICE-CHAIR
RECOMMENDATION GRC-1-2002:
That Councillor K. Mahoney be elected to the position of Chair of the Grants Ad hoc Committee;
And further, that Councillor C. Harker be elected to the position of Vice-Chair of the Grants Ad hoc Committee.
Committee Chair Mahoney presided.
3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
RECOMMENDATION GRC-2-2002:
That the agenda for the December 5, 2002, Grants Ad hoc Committee meeting be approved.
4. REPORTS / ITEMS
a) Community Programs Funding 2002, Funding For Six Collaborative Initiatives Supporting Youth And Families
RECOMMENDATION GRC-3-2002:
That Council approve third year funding totalling $224,450 for Regional Community Programs' six initiatives, as set out in Appendix 1 of the report of the Commissioner of Social Services, dated November 1, 2002 titled "Community Programs Funding 2002, Funding for Six Collaborative Initiatives Supporting Youth and Families";
And further, that $199,450 of the total funding be expensed to CF10101 account 56110, in the amount of $131,249, and to CF00012 account 56743, in the amount of $68,201 as part of the approved Ontario Works 2002 Current Budget;
And further, that the balance of funding in the amount of $25,000 be expensed to CF00012 account 56743 to be financed from the Working Funds Social Services Grants Reserve R1260.
b) Conference Grants - Eligibility Criteria
RECOMMENDATION GRC-4-2002:
That the Region not establish a program to provide grants to conference organizers;
And further, that the Treasurer and Commissioner of Finance report back to the next General Committee meeting on the preferred method of processing such funding requests, should they occur.
