a) 2008 Community Programs Funding
Presentation by Laureen Rennie, Acting Manager, Community Services and Special Projects

Received

Laureen Rennie, Acting Manager, Community Services and Special Projects presented a brief overview of the 2008 Renewable Project Funding requests and recommendations.

She advised that of the 26 applications received from 23 community agencies, 10 agencies met the funding criteria.

Councillor Paterak suggested that staff include, in future reports, details as to why community agency applicants are not eligible for the community program funding.

Laureen Rennie noted that 37 agencies have been approved for 2008 multi-year operating funding and that 2008 is year two for the multi-year funding stream.

She noted that Peel Farm Safety advised they are unable to utilize the $400 multi-year community program funding from the Region of Peel. She noted that Peel Farm Safety could not deliver the community education program services due to insufficient demand from target clients or lack of program attendees.

Regional Chair Kolb expressed concern given the high incidence of farm accidents, especially among children. He undertook to meet with the Peel Federation of Agriculture group to discuss options for utilizing the $400 multi-year funding within the related community programs in Peel.

Following discussion regarding feedback on community program funding decisions, the Grants Ad hoc Committee members expressed their support for the 2008 community programs funding recommendations.

RECOMMENDATION GRC-6-2007:
