Biography of Dan Labrecque

Dan Labrecque is the Commissioner of the Public Works Department for the Region of Peel. In his role, Dan provides strategic leadership to a variety of divisions responsible for managing and providing safe, secure, reliable and environmentally responsible transportation, water, wastewater, waste management and development services.

Dan has been a member of the Executive Management Team since 2002 and was appointed the Commissioner of Public Works in December 2008.  Previously, Dan was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for both the Region of Peel and Peel Living.

Dan has over 30 years of work experience, including 29 years of public service. Dan received his accounting designation from the Society of Management Accountants and his Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute of Toronto.

He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Ontario Public Works Association, the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.  Dan also serves as a board member on several provincial and local organizations including the Social Housing Services Corporation’s subsidiaries that focus on investments and asset management, the Peel Children’s Aid Society and Wellspring Chinguacousy, a new cancer support agency in Peel.
