Region of Peel Corporate Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report
The Region of Peel is working to ensure that Peel is a 'safe, healthy, prosperous, sustainable and inclusive community that protects its quality of life for generations to come.' To help achieve this vision Regional Council has adopted the Energy and Environment Sustainability Strategy (EESS) which is guided by three goals;
- Reduce corporate greenhouse gas emissions to 80% below 1990 levels
- Ensure sustainable energy procurement
- Ensure regulatory compliance
To assist with achieving the Region’s greenhouse gas emission reduction goal, while maintaining its regulatory compliance goal that Region has completed the 2016 Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emission Report (PDF) and the Region of Peel Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan (PDF). This is the third year the Region has submitted an Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emission’s Report and the 2014-2019 Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan is provided which builds on Peel’s previous energy plans.
The Region of Peel is well on its way in implementing its Energy and Environment Sustainability Strategy. Staff will continue to focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable energy procurement, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The combined efforts of departments across the Region have put Peel on a path toward achieving its GHG reduction goals; helping ensure that Peel is sustainable community now and into the future.
