Instructions
- This game is a variation of non-elimination Simon Says.
- Choose one student to be the leader.
- The student faces the group, jumps into the air and performs one of the following actions associated with rock, paper or scissors.
- “Rock” - student jumps up then lands and curls their body up into a ball.
- “Paper” - student jumps up and lands standing tall with both arms up as if reaching for the sky.
- “Scissors” - student jumps up and lands with their legs and arms crossed in front of their body.
- At the same time, the rest of the class also performs a “rock, paper, scissors” action of their choice.
- Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper and paper beats rock.
- If a student chooses the same action as the leader or beats the leader, then he/she stays in the game. If not, then they join the leader and help him/her decide what to be next and perform the action with him/her.
- Eventually, all students will be on one side, but they are never eliminated.
|
Accommodations/Modifications
- Have the class or the leader decide what actions will represent rock, paper, and scissors before beginning the activity.
- Modify the actions to include students of all ability levels. Actions could be done sitting, or involve only the arms, etc.
