Safety Considerations
- Make sure the floor is free of any obstructions.
- Depending on the activities chosen, move the desks to the side so students have more room.
|
Instructions
- As a class, have students spell vocabulary words out loud. Each time they say a vowel, all students do the following actions:
A = lunge jump on each side
E = two stride jumps (two large steps)
I = reach up then touch the floor
0 = knee lift on each leg
U = jump on the spot five times
- Demonstrate the actions and have the class repeat after you to ensure that all students understand what is required. Write the vowels and corresponding activities on the board as a reminder.
|
Accommodations/Modifications
- Have the students make up new actions for each vowel.
- Choose a leader for a set of words (physical activity, nutrition words or other) who will decide what action each vowel will have and who will demonstrate the actions. Make sure that the leader performs the action safely and that there is enough room to do so.
