Help Your School Take Action - Health Policies and Guidelines

"Policy used together with education and awareness has the greatest impact on healthy choices."

-Making a Difference in Your Community: A Guide for Policy Change, Ontario Public Health Association, (1995)

Policies can "make the healthy choice the easy choice" and provide a basis for practical action.

For example, nutrition policies will ensure that food and drinks offered or sold at school match the healthy eating messages taught in the classroom. Physical activity policies reinforce the curriculum by promoting fitness and the joy of being active.

This section offers guidance and practical advice for putting "healthy choice" policies into place in your school.
