Help Parents Take Action - Partners: Parents and Schools

School Councils

The school council is an important way for you to learn what's happening at your child's school. School councils also provide an opportunity to share your perspective on issues affecting the school community and students.

Ontario Supports Public School Councils

Ontario Ministry of Education legislation states that every publicly funded school in Ontario must form a council.

School councils include parents, school staff, community representatives and sometimes students.
