 Pumping
Up & Winding Down
Ever
Had a Day Like This? |
- You wake up with
a huge pimple on your nose.
- You lose your
lunch money and end up with a headache.
- The class list
for next semester shows you're no longer
with any of your friends.
- You get on a
bus that's really crowded.
- You have to stand
next to the person who bugs you the most.
Anyone can have a bad day. But when your stress
level goes through the roof like this, your
confidence can go way down.
Now... think about how you feel when you're
getting ready for a great party?
Happy but... butterflies in your stomach too?
Whether the events are good or bad, it helps
to get to know how you react under stress.
Do you do your best under pressure or when
you get to set your own pace? |
Stress
is Part of Life! |
- Without it, you'd
be totally bored.
- When stress builds
up, it's called burnout - you don't
want to go there!
- A lot depends
on how you cope.
- Studies show
the most successful people have learned
to use their adrenaline rush to pump them
up enough to do well, and to "turn
it all off" by taking time to relax
and re-energize.

Ways
to Cope With Stress |
- You've probably
already got some great ways to cope with
stress - like doing fun stuff with your
friends, planning ahead to meet your deadlines,
and getting some exercise.
- Watch out for
habits that end up causing you more stress
- like procrastinating when you know all
those due dates are soon!
- Tune into dangerous
ways of coping - smoking, drinking and
drugs, eating too much junk food or not
eating much at all, watching too much TV,
spending too much time on the net.
- You can replace
these kind of habits with healthier ones
before they really mess up your life...
- ...because it's
more than survival you're after. You want
a quality life - and you want it now.
That's why you're using the net to your advantage
this way to learn more about managing stress
in ways that will keep you feeling good, energetic
and confident. |
