Arrow BulletTake Care of Basics

What do you need? Besides $$ and CD's and cool jeans...

What Do You Really Need...

Sometimes you might eat nothing but junk food, and go for days (weeks) without getting any exercise. Your sleep routine may be no routine at all.
  • As boring as it sounds, these are basic needs you are neglecting.
  • Taking care of basics brings back your energy, good moods, and even your confidence.
Things are much more serious if you don't feel safe in your home or in a relationship. Personal safety in relationships is more than a need - personal safety is your right.
  • Abuse in all its forms is wrong. It's also damaging to a person's sense of worth, making it hard to ask for help.
  • If you're in an unsafe relationship, or think you might be, don't wait. Talk to your guidance counsellor or teacher, or call Peel Public Health.
Being confident and independent doesn't mean you don't need other people. But you make your own choices.
  • You're not willing to do just anything to win people over.
Ask yourself: What kind of friends do I want to be around? Do I want to be in a relationship?.
  • Check out Dating & Relationships to help you decide if you want to date, and what makes a relationship healthy and fun.
Whatever you decide about relationships, other people can't read your mind. Parents, teachers, even friends... they all tune out whining and complaining because it sounds as if you're blaming everyone else and not accepting any responsibility for yourself . Leave that to the little kids!
