Financial Help for Kids' Dental Treatments

Peel Public Health offers financial help for kids’ dental treatment. Each program has different criteria and offers different dental services.

The Children In Need Of Treatment (CINOT) Program in Peel

Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) Program:

  • Pays for basic dental treatments for children under
18 years of age who are in need of urgent dental care
    and who meet criteria
  • Is for families without dental insurance
  • Services are provided by a dentist of the family’s choice
after the child has enrolled in the program.

Children need a dental screening to determine if they are eligible for CINOT.

Qualifying for Children In Need Of Treatment (CINOT) Program

A child may qualify for the CINOT program if:

  • the child lives in Peel.
  • the child has a valid Ontario Health card.
  • the child is under 18 years of age.
  • the parent does not have a private or government
    dental plan
(i.e., Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program).
  • the cost of going to the dentist is too expensive for
    the family.

Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) Program

Healthy Smiles Ontario

  • The Healthy Smiles Program aims to improve the oral health of children and youth by providing access to preventive dental care for children from low income families and therefore reducing the need for urgent dental treatment.

Children 17 and under may be eligible for the program if:

  • They live in Ontario;
  • They are members of a household with an Adjusted Family Net Income of $20,000 per year or less; and
