Cannabis is an illegal drug that comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It comes in three different forms: as marijuana (the dried leaf of the plant), as hashish and hash oil (both from the plant resin).

Marijuana is commonly smoked in cigarettes (called joints or reefers) and the "high" someone feels comes from the chemical THC (delta-9-tetrahydro-cannabinol).

  • Increased appetite
  • Talkative
  • Feelings of happiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Distorted perception
  • Impaired judgment
  • Slow reaction time
  • Paranoid/anxious.

Effects over the long-term

  • Lung damage
  • Breathing problems
  • Short-term memory problems
  • Difficulty concentrating.
