Protecting the public's health through risk assessment, enforcing standards, education and advocacy

Animals, bugs and pets

Peel Public Health has a variety of programs and information to help protect you from getting bitten by bugs or animals:

  • Our inspectors investigate when someone may have been bitten or scratched by an animal
  • We offer a bed bug and a tick identification service
  • From June to September, staff implement the Region's West Nile Virus Plan, which includes monitoring mosquito populations and responding to stagnant water reports
  • We give advice on how to avoid getting diseases caused by mosquitoes and ticks.
