West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus (WNV) is a potentially serious illness especially in individuals 50 years of age or older. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito.

Each year, Peel Public Health develops a WNV Prevention Plan to monitor WNV activity in Peel and help reduce the risk of WNV to Peel residents.

Visit Peel Public Health’s West Nile Virus website for important information about WNV, personal protection and how to reduce mosquitoes around your home.
