What is FoodCheck Peel?

FoodCheck Peel is a new food safety program. It helps protect customers from foodborne illnesses through inspections of retail food business establishments in Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon. FoodCheck Peel rates these establishments by posting one of three colour signs based on the inspection results.

Most of the retail food business establishments are inspected at least once a year. How often an establishment is inspected depends on certain factors such as the types of food served.

Preparing for FoodCheck Pee

FoodCheck Peel is set to launch with the Region of Peel's Food Safety Disclosure By-law in November 2005.

Many establishments already have a "Preparing for FoodCheck Peel" sign at or near their entrance. This means the establishment is waiting for its first inspection under the new program.
