Health in Peel: Determinants and Disparities

Arrow BulletChapter 3: Relationships Amongst the Determinants of Health

This chapter describes the logistic regression modelling technique used to examine the independent effect of each of the determinants of health on a health outcome of interest. Logistic regression methods incorporate multiple variables into the analysis. The results provide a more accurate assessment of an outcome of interest by considering how several dependant variables vary together. Four health outcomes and health behaviours were examined: self-rated general health status, binge drinking, overweight and obesity and current smoking status.
