Keep cigarettes, matches and fire starters out of children's reach |

Use a fireplace screen even when fireplace is not in use, and remember to clean chimneys every year |

Remove breakable glass and other sharp edged furniture from the living room or pad edges with cushioning material |

Prevent toppling by keeping TVs and other heavy furniture and electronics on a stable surface far back and against a wall |
| • |
Keep electrical cords out of reach by taping them to baseboards or running them under furniture (never under carpets or rugs) |
