Immunizations for Schools & Child Care

Children need certain immunizations to attend schools and child-care centres in Ontario, unless an exemption is obtained. Parents are responsible for reporting these immunizations to Peel Public Health.

If an immunization dose is missing from a student's record, Peel Public Health will ask the student or parent/guardian for the information.

To protect the health of children in our community, Peel Public Health is required by law:

  • to collect, review and update immunization records of children registered in schools in our region under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, 1990; and
  • to collect, review and update immunization records of children in licensed child-care centres under the Day Nurseries Act, 1990.
