Some families may experience very difficult times when looking after a child with a developmental disability. Often their needs are complex and urgent. If you’re in this situation and all available resources have been exhausted, don’t give up! The services below may help you to get through this difficult time.

You can get access to Service Resolution Peel if your family’s situation is urgent, complex and all other resources have been exhausted. A committee, which includes a representative from Peel Case Management, will review your situation and make recommendations regarding supports, services and plans that may help your family.
- Residential Services Management Committee (RSMC) 905-795-0591
The Residential Services Management Committee is a single point of access to residential services. The committee consists of 13 agencies including Peel Case Management, all of which can assist you to get your child on this waiting list. All residential requests can be sent directly to the RSMC. When resources become available, the committee determines who is most in need and best meets the criteria for the residential vacancy.

Peel WrapAround Process is a strength-based planning approach that helps families who are experiencing significant difficulties. They develop a team of formal (agencies, associations, services) and informal (family, friends, neighbours) supports to “wrap around” the family. The Peel Wraparound Process believes that there are strengths within individuals, families and communities that can be used to develop a network of supports, making a real difference in the lives of children, youth and families. Peel Wraparound Process is available to families who have childen aged 2-18 years with a developmental disability.

Describes different types of abuse and neglect and provides information about reporting abuse and neglect.
Peel Collaborative Child and Adolescent Sexual Abuse Program (up to 18 yrs) 905-275-2396
Provides out-client services to child and youth survivors of sexual abuse/assault; children (12yrs & under) who are exhibiting sexualized behaviours; adolescents who have committed sexual offences; and families in which sibling sexual abuse has occurred.

Provides services to women who have experienced sexual violence at some point in their lives. Services include: a 24-hour crisis and support telephone line, individual and group counselling, and accompaniment services.

Provides counselling to children and youth who are experiencing trouble at home, in school or in the community.
William Osler Health Centre-Child and Adolescent Clinic 905-453-1160
Provides assessment and treatment to families with children and adolescents up to 18 years of age who are experiencing significant social, emotional, learning and behavioural problems. Services include group therapy, limited family and individual therapy, and pharmacological therapy, as well as connections with schools and community agencies.
