Type 2 Kids AWARD Program
The Type 2 Kids AWARD program is a free program for 10-18 year olds in the Mississauga and Brampton area diagnosed with or at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes. For the first 3 months of the program, kids and their caregivers will come in the evening on a weekly basis for health education and physical activity in a group setting. During these 3 months, kids and their caregivers will also receive individual counselling from the program team which consists of a Nurse, Social Worker, Kinesiologist, Psychologist, Paediatric Endocrinologist and 2 Registered Dietitians. After the first 3 months, kids will be followed up individually by staff every 1 to 3 months.
