Chronic diseases are among the most common and costly health problems in Canada and so the most preventable. Some risk factors such as age and sex cannot be modified. Other behavioural risk factors that can be modified include eating nutritious foods, engaging in regular physical activity, avoiding tobacco and using alcohol wisely.
