Advice for Parents

.::: College, University & the Workplace

Teens starting college or university or even a career are likely to be exposed to situations where binge drinking and drug use are not only encouraged but rewarded.

Your influence at this stage is still very important, so be sure to:

  • Talk openly about alcohol and drug use.
  • Make them aware of the activities that typically happen at college and university such as pre-drinking, drinking to get drunk, drinking games (i.e., beer pong) and drinking and sex.
  • Tell your teen you believe in their good judgment.
  • Encourage them to find ways to have fun and be safe at the same time.
