Arrow BulletViolence Prevention

It is important to understand that violence is the use of power to control and oppress others. Although acts such as rape are clearly interpreted as violent, other acts such as bullying are "grey", confusing and misunderstood. Violence is on a continuum.

This section provides information about this declaration and what it means. The work to eliminate violence has begun.

Violence is in every aspect of our lives. It is in our media, neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces, playgrounds and homes. Violence is also in the words we speak and the actions we take.

The financial and human cost of violence is infinite.

As a result, Peel Health has declared violence the number one public health hazard.
