Region of Peel - Health Services works with hundreds of volunteers to deliver outstanding programs and services. Our goal is to place volunteers in available positions that match their needs and interests.

Peel Public Health Volunteer Opportunities

We have a variety of volunteer programs available to those age 16 years and older; however, some of our programs require a minimum age of 18 years. Opportunities are available in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. Please review the volunteer position descriptions before filling in your volunteer application form, as we will be asking which volunteer position(s) you are interested in.

Healthy Babies Healthy Children – In Home Visiting Program
Objective To provide competent and reliable in-home family support and promote healthy growth and development of children.

Reproductive Health – Healthy Start Program and Teen Prenatal Supper Club Program
Objective To provide support to the Healthy Start and/or Teen Prenatal Supper Club programs by assisting staff to prepare a healthy breakfast or dinner while engaging children in activities as defined by program staff.

Family Health – Postpartum Mood Disorder Peer Lay Educator Program
Objective To provide information about postpartum mood disorder (PMD) to parents and small community groups in order to build awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding PMD.

Healthy Sexuality – Clinic Volunteer Program
Objective To provide clerical support to healthy sexuality clinics throughout Peel region during non-clinic hours.

Healthy Sexuality – Peel Works Needle Exchange Program
Objective To assemble “Quick Packs” for the Peel Works Needle Exchange Program. The goal of the program is to prevent the spread of HIV and Hepatitis B and C among drug users and self-piercers by using a harm reduction philosophy.

Family Health - Breastfeeding Companion Volunteer
Objective To protect, support and promote the initiation and duration of breastfeeding by interacting with mothers in a variety of settings as a fellow mother with breastfeeding experience and training received to perform this role

Long Term Care and Adult Day Services and Community Support Services Volunteer Opportunities

We have a variety of volunteer programs available to those age 14 years and older within the five Region of Peel Long Term Care Centres and Adult Day Services. Opportunities are available in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. Peel Young Parents Resource Group – Picnic Volunteer, June 11, 2015
Objective To support a summer activity for young parents and their children that enables them to enjoy an outing with their children while connecting with their peers and service providers in Peel.
