Jordan Broadworth: Paintings

As part of the New Abstraction movement in Canada, Jordan Broadworth: Paintings involves hard-edged and geometric planes softened by a labour intensive painting process that seamlessly melds the gestural lines and drips within his canvases. This exhibition will look at Broadworth’s recent experiments with fragmented, layered and constructed surfaces.
GTA: Great Toronto Art

In recognition of Toronto’s 175th birthday, this exhibition will feature historic and contemporary interpretations of the city and surrounding area with works by Barker Fairley, Christianne Pflug, Nicholas Hornyansky, George Paginton, Frederick Hagan, Arto Yuzbasiyan and others.

Arresting Images

Circulated by the Ontario Provincial Police Museum, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the OPP, this exhibition of late 19th and early 20th century “mug shots”, traces the development and social implications of this unusual form of portraiture.
Face Time (Harry Gustafsson Permanent Collection Gallery)

Photographs and paintings from the Gallery’s Permanent Collection that explore the manipulated portrait will be augmented with borrowed works by Louise Noguchi (Compilation Portrait Series), Sadko Hadzihasanovic and Timothy Laurin.
John Sommer: A Lasting Gift

Sommer has long been an important force in the visual arts in Halton Region, Peel’s nearest neighbour, and over the years has given the Art Gallery of Peel over 200 examples of contemporary printmaking, painting, sculpture and photography, many of which will be featured in this exhibition.
Wyn Geleynse: Day in and Day out with Minor Tragedies
Oct.28 – Jan. 3, 2010 One of Canada’s leading installation artists, Wyn Geleynse, has been exploring photography as a self-referential medium for the last three decades. For this exhibition, the artist will create a site specific installation drawing upon the institutional history of the 19th century buildings that comprise the Peel Heritage Complex, and incorporating photography from the holdings of the Region of Peel Archives, one of the Gallery’s partners in the Complex.
