Mail Art and Artistamp Exhibition,
June 26 to
August 18, 2002
It’s in the Mail
The Art Gallery of Peel invites artists to submit original
pieces of mail artwork for the International Mail Art
and Artistamp Exhibition, entitled It’s in the
Mail. Send your decorated envelopes, postcards and
artistamps, now until Friday, June 14, 2002. If you
can mail it, it’s considered mail art.
 Perceived
as an alternative to the traditional idea of art, mail
art became prominent in the 1970’s and has continued
to grow in popularity. It is a network of artists creating
visual poetry through correspondence and opportunity
for the exchange of art and ideas among established
and undiscovered artists.
Guest Curator and Peel Artist, Susan Williamson is
coordinating the International Mail Art and Artistamp
Exhibition. The show will take place from June 26
until August 18, 2002. All submissions for the Mail
Art exhibit will become part of the permanent mail art
collection at the Art Gallery of Peel.
