Peel Heritage Complex Our Collections are made possible
by people just like you!

Archives Microfilm Acquisition Fund
Archives To enhance our ever expanding collection of unique research tools pertaining to the Region and County of Peel, we will be purchasing:

  • Microfilms of Church and Religious Registers
  • Civil registrations of Births, Marriages and Deaths
  • Surrogate Court Records of Wills

Many of our patrons require records which are relevant to Peel County or regional research, but are available at other institutions such as, the Archives of Ontario in Toronto, or The Library and Archives of Canada in Ottawa.

You can help make the Archives at the Peel Heritage Complex a ‘one stop shopping’ destination for original documentary sources for use by all types of researchers:

  • Genealogists
  • Academics
  • Students
  • Local historians

Student Curated Partnership Fund
For the past several years the Peel Heritage Complex has worked in partnership with Peel teachers and students on an exciting student art exhibition. The Student Curated Exhibition is a partnership project designed to promote a greater understanding of the important role that the arts play in our everyday lives.

David shows some artifacts to studentsThe Student Curated Exhibition allows students from participating schools to curate an exhibition of their work and have the exhibition displayed at the Peel Heritage Complex. The project spans several months and includes 6 classroom visits by gallery staff and 2 visits to the gallery by students.

This partnership project has grown in scope and popularity over the past few years and has received attention from professional organizations and private funding agencies. Donations to this program allow us to purchase framing supplies, print catalogues and posters for each school and provide each school with a complimentary bus trip to the Heritage Complex.

Seniors helping seniors
"…the residents really enjoyed this program; it seemed to open them up, remembering the different tools and kitchen supplies. The residents even commented that they really enjoyed the program."

Seniors’ Outreach
"Never underestimate the power of a visitor"

The Peel Heritage Complex provides a variety of interactive and educational Outreach Presentations to seniors in both regional and private facilities and a variety of community organizations. Artifacts and archival documents from the Complex collections provide the foundation for reminiscing, discussion, education, and social interaction during these presentations.

In 2002, the Heritage Complex made presentations to approximately 76 groups, reaching over 1900 seniors. The presentations to seniors provide a range of benefits from a “simple change of scenery”, to an informative learning experience (although the presenters often learn more from the seniors!) and are adaptable to all ability levels. Seniors who may be uncommunicative will shine with personal stories related to the artifact or photo being passed around the group.

There is no charge for Seniors Outreach Programs and donations allow us to pay our instructors and purchase hands-on artifacts for the presentations.

Child drawing at Heritage Summer camp
"I just wanted to say thank-you for giving me a chance to go to art school, and camp this summer. Art school was very fun and messy too."

Arts and Education for Children Fund

Every year we offer scholarships to our popular March Break, Summer and Teen classes for children whose families are not in a financial position to provide children with the enrichment opportunities such as art and archaeology classes. The classes offer children the opportunity to create, explore and express themselves.

Donations to the Arts and Heritage Fund allow us to offer scholarships to students from a number of service agencies such as: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Salvation Army Family Shelters, Children’s Aid Society of Peel and Rapport Youth and Family Services.

If you would like to make a donation to any of these programs, call 905-791-4055 ext. 3625.

Donations to the Peel Heritage Complex are tax deductible.
