The Region of Peel Museum is considered one of the finest mid-size museums in the province. As well as exhibiting pieces about the history of the Region, the Museum presents eclectic exhibitions throughout the year in the Charles Armstrong Gallery of 20th Century History, its temporary exhibition gallery. The Brain Cell Learning Centre also offers an educational and fun environment where visitors can touch, see, listen, explore and create.
Discover collections as exciting and varied as the people who lived here, including family treasures and handmade tools of the settlers. View our schedule for this year to see what’s new at the Museum!

About the Peel Heritage Complex
The Peel Heritage Complex is dedicated to the collection, preservation, interpretation and exhibition of Peel’s cultural and artistic heritage. Originally operated as the Peel County Museum and Art Gallery, the facility was established by the Peel Historical Society in 1968, as a home for a collection of Peel County art and artifacts.
The Peel county historical Society commenced operation of a museum, art gallery and archives under a board of directors in 1968. It was first housed in the former Registry Office, which now houses the Art Gallery of Peel. In 1980, the Museum and Art Gallery moved to the historic Peel County Courthouse.
In 1977, the County Jail closed its doors as inmates were transferred to other correctional facilities. At that time, possession of the building reverted to the Region of Peel. An extensive renovation of the Jail, plus an addition linking the jail to the Registry Office was completed in 1986. The new Peel Heritage Complex, containing the Region of Peel Museum, Art Gallery of Peel and Region of Peel Archives, was officially opened on October 4, 1986.
