Colony Ford-Lincoln of Brampton
2007 Official Peel Heritage Complex Sponsor
Colony Ford-Lincoln of Brampton is the 2007 official sponsor of the Peel Heritage Complex. Colony Ford-Lincoln’s support has enabled the Peel Heritage Complex to provide drop in workshops, free admission during popular holiday times and interactive activities in the new Arctic Zoo exhibition.

The Brampton and Area Community Foundation (BACF) has sponsored the following projects at the Peel Heritage Complex:
2007 – 2008 The 1500 Kilometre Painting
Funded by the Brampton and Area Community Foundation, Art Exchange: The 1,500 Kilometre Painting will have students from Brampton and Nunavut work together on a series of canvas panels. Students will explore Canadian diversity by comparing culture, fashion and technology through art.

2006 – 2007 Creative Therapy
In 2006 – 2007, the PHC received a grant from the Brampton and Area Community Foundation for the Creative Therapy Program. The program was designed to enable participants with developmental, physical and emotional challenges to develop skills and self-confidence through art appreciation and creative self-expression. Groups involved in the program includes Mary Centre, a community support day centre program for adults with special needs, P.H.A.B.I.S.- Peel Halton Acquired Brain Injury Services and Kerry’s Place offering programs for teens with autism.

2005 – 2006 Young at HeART
The PHC presents a number of outreach ‘remembrance programs’ that allow us to reach into the community and partner with a variety of long term care facilities and local seniors. Through this work we recognized the need for a program designed to explore creative expression for seniors, while still providing social, educational and therapeutic activities for people of all abilities.

Young at HeART was designed as a series of six creative sessions that provided an introduction to various styles and media such as watercolour, sculpture, and collage along with opportunities to practise various techniques. No previous art experience was necessary as there is no such thing as the ‘wrong way’ to be creative! Regardless of experience or ability, participants were able to express themselves in a creative way. After being funded by the BACF in 2005 – 2006, the program continues to be popular at local seniors centres.
