Peel War Records Board Cards
What information is contained on the Peel War Records Board cards?
The 2826 alphabetical cards were prepared for each individual (men and women) who enlisted from or had some connection with Peel County. Various biographical and genealogical details such as birth date and place, education, next of kin, employment history, religious affiliation, military service and any honours were requested, but not all the details are complete for every individual.

Researcher notes:
- an asterisk ( * ) denotes that there is an alternate address listed on the card – which may or may not be in Peel County.
- Some people have no Regimental Number listed.
- Some people have no alphabetical prefix to their Regimental Number.
- In a few instances there are two cards for the same person with two different numbers.

Further details about the Peel War Board and the men and women of Peel who served can be found in an article authored by Mrs. Gordon Graydon entitled “Peel’s Fine Record of Service” which was published in A History of Peel County to mark its Centenary as a Separate County, 1867 – 1967. This publication is rare, but is available in the reference library of the Peel Heritage Complex and some public libraries.
