Affordable Housing Capacity Building Grant Program Q&A

 

Who is eligible to apply for the grant?

The Affordable Housing Capacity Building Grant Program is for non-profit, community and faith groups interested in capacity building in relation to affordable housing regeneration and/or development in the Region of Peel.

How much money does the grant program provide or offer?

Non-profit, community and faith groups can receive up to $20,000 for capacity building in relation to affordable housing regeneration and/or development.

How will grant applicants be assessed and selected?

Applications are assessed on a first come-first-serve basis until the program funds are allocated. The Region of Peel staff will review your application and make a decision based on the information that you have provided.

To qualify you must:

  • Be a non-profit, community or faith groups interested in developing affordable in the Region of Peel
  • Submit a completed program application
  • Identify outcomes to be achieved; outcomes should typically result in the increase or preservation of affordable housing stock in Peel
  • Submit one quote from each professional you will work with. The quote(s) must clearly articulate the scope of work. The Region of Peel reserves the right to request a second quote if the scope of work and/or costs are deemed unreasonable

Can I hire multiple professionals to assist with my development/regeneration project?

Yes, funding can be used to hire a consultant, architect and/ or a planner.

Does the Region of Peel assist in finding consultants?

No, you are responsible for hiring an appropriate expert, who will work with you and your organization to, for example, create a vision and/or develop a concept for affordable housing project you wish to undertake.

Do not hire any professional(s) before you receive approval to proceed with your regeneration or development project.

Any costs incurred that are above the approved amount are the responsibility of the organization.

Where do I send my application?

The application and all supporting documents can be sent by regular Canada Post mail or dropped off at the Region of Peel office.

When will I find out if I am selected or not?

The Affordable Housing Capacity Building Grant Program staff will review your application and notify you of the status of your application in 2-3 weeks of receipt of your application.
