Why a Housing and Homelessness Plan

How is this plan community owned

Peel's housing and homelessness issues directly affect every member of our community, regardless of circumstance. Whether you or someone you know is in need of social housing or is receiving social assistance, renting, or is fortunate enough to own a home - housing connects
us all.

None of us can solve housing and homelessness alone. By using each other's expertise, resources and creativity we can have more impact on how we address our community's issues.

In its role as Housing System Manager, the Region of Peel recognizes that only with community involvement can we address issues that impact all of us.

The Region will continue to provide supports to foster networks of non-profit and private sector agencies, organizations and individuals. This includes the Community Reference Group whose leadership will guide our plan over the next ten years. Learn more

Province of Ontario Long Term Affordable Housing Strategy

Peel's Housing and Homelessness Plan builds on the Ontario government's Long Term Affordable Housing Strategy, which aims to transform the housing system. Ontario's strategy means more flexible funding to municipalities like Peel so they can target specific housing and homelessness programs to the needs of the community.
