Celebrating the Walker Road Seniors' Housing Expansion
On October 6, the Region celebrated the Walker Road Seniors' Housing Expansion with the Caledon East community. A groundbreaking ceremony was held to acknowledge the start of the 25-unit project, which is to be completed in spring 2008.

Approximately 75 people came together to mingle, enjoy refreshments and listen to remarks by Regional Chair Emil Kolb, Mayor of Caledon Marolyn Morrison, and Regional Councillors Pat Mullin and Nancy Stewart. Commissioner of Housing and Property Keith Ward emceed the event that took place on the grounds of the existing Walker Road seniors' building at 20 Walker Rd. E.

The expansion will have 22 one-bedroom units, 2 two-bedroom units and one barrier-free unit. A walkway will join the existing building with the expansion, allowing residents in the existing building to access an elevator in the new building. Additionally, residents and seniors of the Caledon East community will enjoy a new drop-in centre.
