Why Work at Peel?

What We Value

Regional Values

Our Regional Values define how we work together and drive our daily interactions and decisions.

  • We are empowered to make a difference.
  • We are all leaders in the work we do.
  • We pursue and embrace purposeful change.
  • We are genuine and transparent.
  • We care about and support everyone's well-being and success.
  • We find and implement solutions together.
  • We provide excellent customer service every time.

A Healthy Workplace

The Region has established a Healthy Workplace Program that is based on criteria developed by the National Quality Institute (NQI) and Health Canada.

Code of Conduct

A formal standard code of behaviour ensures a consistent understanding of the values, ethics and legal obligations by which the Region operates.

United Way

The Region supports the United Way of Peel Region as its official corporate charity.

In past campaigns, our achievements earned us two prestigious awards:

  • the Outstanding Public Sector Joint Union-Management Campaign Spirit Award
  • the Campaign Chair’s Award of Merit.

We should be particularly proud of the Award of Merit – we won it over all large Peel-based private-sector businesses

Alternate Flexible Work Schedule

Employees in some departments who have completed their probation can apply to rearrange their work schedules within a specific period. It is understood that work can be performed at times other than traditional office hours without negatively affecting the level or cost of service and client satisfaction provided to Peel citizens. This means that employees can enjoy a day off every two or three weeks by working extended hours on the remaining days.

Flextime Policy

Depending on their work location, employees can take up to one day off for extra hours worked over a four-week time period, separate from vacation or approved absence time.

"Open Door" Environment

The Region encourages open communication and accessibility with initiatives such as the CAO Employee Focus Group, departmental advisory committees, internal communication planning and through Pathways - the Region's Intranet site.
