Region of Peel wins
CAnFR Award
By Penny Mittal
There are many people at the Region
of Peel who work tirelessly behind the scenes
to produce award-winning documents and projects.
Here at the Region, employees take pride in their
accomplishments and the high level of service
they provide.
One example of this is the team of employees
in the Finance department who worked to produce
the 2001 annual financial report. This past March,
the Region of Peel was honoured to receive the
Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR)
from the Government Finance Officers Association
of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its
comprehensive 2001 annual financial report.
I feel satisfied that we achieved our goal
and received recognition from a professional organization,
says Mike Grey, Financial Analyst, Accounting Services.
It is no surprise a highly skilled and dedicated
group of individuals received this highest form
of recognition at the Region. Grey, part of the
winning team, adds the group is a strong one because
its members are a cohesive and responsive
group of individuals working as a team to achieve
common goals and objectives.

during the Region's Annual Public Works
Week Event.
|
Mitch Zamojc, Commissioner of Public Works for
the Region of Peel, was named the 2002 Public
Works Leader of the Year by the Ontario Chapter
of the American Public Works Association. Zamojc
is the first recipient of this award, established
by the Chapter in 2001.
Im honoured to have received the
award and delighted that the challenges and opportunities
my team and I work towards are being recognized
by our peers, says Zamojc. This award
is, in reality, recognition of the dedication
and passion of the men and women who make up our
Public Works department.
Commissioner of Public Works for the past six
years, Zamojcs achievements include streamlining
processes to increase the effective delivery of
water, wastewater, roads and solid waste management
programs.
