  • News
  • the United Way Employee Campaign Committee sets out to raise $160,000.

The cause is admirable . . . but humour is the name of the game.

The committee searched in dark alleys and deep sewers, looking for a way to persuade their co-workers to help them eliminate hardship across the Region.

Heroes they are, and everyday heroes they wanted to create.

The team called on their friends the Commissioners, CAO and Regional Chair to help them in their plight against crime
    . . . ahem . . . adversity.

Heroes from all walks of life joined the campaign co-chairs in spreading the

    message about the United Way.

How did they do it you ask?

They did it with humour and fun. Laughter was their ammunition.

Batman flew in with Caesar. John Wayne, Miss Piggy and Bob Marley came too. Austin Powers, Dr. Evil and Foxxy Cleopatra came to lend their super sleuth skills.

Wait, Sherlock Holmes and Watson were also on the scene as well as The Rock, the great conqueror Napoleon and the genius Albert Einstein.

They laughed at themselves, they laughed at one another and they made the crowd laugh. The operation was a success.

The success spread. Other teams from the Region got together to spread their own humour and help support the United Way.
