    The Good Ol’ Hockey Game

The Minor Oaks Hockey Association Peewee league’s 2004-2005 champions, the Entertainment Liquidator Hound Dogs with coach Bruce Goldie (end, last row)

How do I deal with work/life balance? I get involved and try not to let stress catch up to me!

Two years ago I was asked to help coach my son’s hockey team. I wondered how I was going to manage it, but then I thought: I’m at the rink during practices and games anyway, so why not be part of the team?

I am now in my third year of coaching and I love it. Getting up early to share the ice with 16 energetic kids eager to play the greatest sport on earth is a great stress reliever.

With the option of flexible hours in my role, I can get my job done and still look after the young folks on the ice. So whether practice is early in the morning or evening, as long as I appropriately schedule work appointments and make up the time, the kids can count on me to be there.
