Problem solvers, communicators, educators or
waste watchdogs, call them what you will. Six
days a week an experienced team of seven Municipal
By-law Enforcement Officers and five Customer
Service Co-ordinators cruise the streets of Peel
responding to inquiries and complaints, as well
as troubleshooting waste collection problems.
Armed with interpersonal skills extraordinaire
and an arsenal of information and paraphernalia
such as: waste collection brochures, garbage tags,
yard waste bags and recycling boxes, these frontline
ambassadors equip residents with the knowledge
they need to ensure their waste is properly prepared
and sorted for collection.
"Rather than criticize, we obtain resident
buy-in to our programs and services by explaining
the benefits and encouraging their participation,"
explains Brenda Tierney, a Municipal By-law Enforcement
Officer.
"The job has its challenges, but by working
as a team and liaising with the other customer
service representatives, WASTELINE operators and
the waste collection contractors, we strive to
make "garbage day" a little easier for
everyone!" adds Brenda.
